The IT services are divided in to different categories like enterprise IT services, software engineering services, computer science services and systems integration services. All of them provide IT solutions to clients by enabling them to utilize and build new technologies. IT management is the process which is involved in providing IT services to companies. The main IT services which must first be implemented are those which involve internal processes. The aim of any IT project is to minimize cost and increase efficiency of the business units. To achieve this, all aspects of the project must be considered as well as its impact on the overall business model. Therefore a proper plan for the project must first be drawn up, reviewed and implemented if it is going to result in any increase in efficiency.

Business units must first analyze their current situation and decide what kind of IT services they require. The customer outcomes should also be analyzed to know what kind of IT services the client needs. In most cases the aim of any business unit is to provide value to its customers by reducing costs and increasing profit margins. They must therefore determine what specific costs they can reduce or increase and what kind of IT solutions would help them in doing these things. These specific costs include training expenses, additional hardware purchase, salary expenses, etc.

The IT service planning process then enters into the next stage which is the assessment of the IT requirements of the company. IT services must first be defined according to specific costs. This definition will then have to be validated to identify what kind of IT solutions are required according to the business outcomes customers want. When this is done, the cost effective and efficient solutions that must be provided must be identified and IT vendors should be consulted. A proposal should then be presented to the IT vendor and if they are agreeable with it the vendor would provide a proposal to evaluate the plan.

Once this is completed, the IT department must then develop and train the staff required for the implementation process. A manual process would then have to be developed and implemented so that the steps involved with IT services can be followed systematically. If there are no procedures provided and employees are left to their own devices, confusion and wastage of time may occur. Hence, IT process planning must first be defined and implemented to ensure proper implementation. View here for more information on IT process planning.
